Kristen M. Stabell, M.D.

Board
certified in both internal medicine and geriatrics, Dr. Stabell received her
medical degree and post graduate medical training from Rush Presbyterian St.
Luke's Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Before joining AMS, Dr.
Stabell served three years active duty as Chief of Internal Medicine at Edwards
Air Force Base in California.
Modern medical science not only
can treat and cure a greater range of diseases than ever before, it can also
enhance the greater life expectancy we enjoy as a result. As an internist, Dr.
Stabell serves as a personal physician, treating patients when illness occurs
and offering advice on lifestyle changes that help patients maintain their good
health. This preventive approach includes regular check-ups and adult
immunizations.
Dr. Stabell also provides
individual counseling for weight loss, smoking cessation, and cholesterol
control.
Because many patients have more
than one medical condition requiring evaluation and treatment, Dr. Stabell
strives to integrate all facets of the patient’s medical care. Her special
interests in the field of internal medicine include: hypertension, diabetes,
heart disease, stomach ulcer, thyroid disease, asthma, chronic lung disease,
acne, headache, Parkinson’s disease, arthritis and allergy problems.
Today there is a resounding
need for specialists in geriatrics, the branch of medicine which deals with
conditions and problems experienced the patients during the aging process. With
her combination of geriatric and internal medicine board certifications, Dr.
Stabell addresses a broad spectrum of health conditions in patients ranging from
early adulthood to the elderly.
An
informed patient is a more satisfied patient.
Educating patients is an
important part of the AMS philosophy. This means explaining your treatment in
detail, providing you with literature on your illness or treatment, and
generally making certain that you understand the care that is prescribed for
you. The more informed you are, the better able you will be to participate in
your progress, so we encourage questions.
